Lay Down the Grass

Sometimes, the grass is greener on both sides. Figure out what spaces in your garden need to be filled with luscious green grass. And where your kids, dog, cat or friends will hang out most. These will be your grassier areas.

3. Prepare the Yard

Fertilize the Soil

If you aren’t contracting a landscaper, you’ll need to do this part yourself. Be it with mulch, or traditional fertilizer, you’ll need to make sure your soil is rich. This will ensure your plants have the proper nutrients they need to not just survive, but thrive in your new garden.

Lay Down the Pathway and Grass

You can use rocks, pavers or liners to lay down your pathway. You can then fill the pathway with either rocks or pavers as well. Whether you choose to line the path with pavers for a more clean cut edge, or rocks for a more creative feel, is completely up to you.

4. Plant the Plants

Create a loving little hole with a shovel for each plant. Make sure the plant has an appropriate amount of sunlight and shade before you plant it. Double check a few days later. If you have to re-plant it because of sunlight, your plant is more likely to survive before it’s fully rooted in the soil.
